Cicerones need to know about: beer, beer storage sales and service, style and culture, taste and flavor of the beer, brewing materials and processes, the installation of beer with food.

Cicerone.org offers three levels of certification: certified beer server, certified cicerone, master cicerone.

Cicerone Certification Program run by Ray Daniels, a veteran of the U.S. beer industry and the President of the Institute for craft beer.

Cicerone Certification Program began offering certification in 2008. That’s because it has given more than 8800 certified beer server certification and certified cicerone 335 certificate. Only four have gained certification master cicerone, although there are attempts of 24. Latest just announced this month.
